Detailed content
Product Description
The GE IS200EISBH1A / IS200EISBH1AAA is an Exciter ISBus Board designed for GE EX2100 excitation control systems. The EISB provides a communication interface for the M1, M2, and C controllers and handles fiber-optic feedback signals associated with generator field, exciter, and ground detection circuits. It transfers these signals through the control backplane to the DSPX controller and supports RS-232C communication with applicable tool and keypad interfaces.
The board is a single-slot, 3U-high module installed in the EX2100 control rack beneath the DSPX. Its front panel provides six fiber-optic connectors for signal transmission and reception. In applicable configurations, the EISB also provides ISBus interface electronics for communication among redundant exciter controllers.

FAQ
Q: What system is the IS200EISBH1A used in?
A: It is primarily associated with GE EX2100 excitation control systems.
Q: What is the difference between IS200EISBH1A and IS200EISBH1AAA?
A: IS200EISBH1A is the ordering/model designation, while IS200EISBH1AAA is the more detailed board or assembly identification commonly found on the hardware.
Q: How many fiber-optic connectors are provided?
A: The H1A version is commonly documented with six front-panel fiber-optic connectors.
Q: Where is the EISB installed?
A: It is a single-slot, 3U-high board installed in the EX2100 control rack beneath the DSPX.
Q: What should be checked before replacement?
A: Verify the complete part number, board revision, rack position, fiber-optic connections, controller configuration, and system firmware compatibility before installation.
Troubleshooting & Safety
🛠️ No communication: Inspect the backplane connection, ISBus configuration, controller status, and fiber-optic connections.
🛠️ Incorrect feedback: Check the associated EDCF interfaces and confirm that generator-field, exciter, and ground-detection fiber connections are routed to the correct ports.
🛠️ RS-232C communication failure: Verify the applicable tool/keypad connection and inspect the backbone interface.
⚠️ Fiber-optic handling: Keep fiber connectors clean and protected from dust. Do not sharply bend fiber-optic cables.
⚠️ Electrical safety: Disconnect and lock out applicable excitation-system power before removing the board. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s discharge and grounding procedures.
⚠️ Configuration matching: Do not replace an EISB solely based on physical appearance. Match the complete IS200EISBH1A / IS200EISBH1AAA identification and the existing EX2100 system configuration.
